Peace Lutheran Church Position Description

Position Title:  Maintenance Technician        

Position Type:  Non-exempt, flexible part-time (8-10 hours/week)

Reports to:  Administrator

Reports to this position:  None

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician ensures and supports the effective and efficient operations of Peace Lutheran Church’s building and grounds.  Performs quality building repairs, renovations and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

General interior maintenance

  1. Replace all burned out light bulbs
  2. Stock all necessary light bulbs
  3. Perform minor repairs as needed and inform the Administrator of larger repairs that require an outside professional
  4. Change Sanctuary furnace filters every month and all others quarterly
  5. Spot clean carpets and Sanctuary chairs as necessary
  6. Touch up window cleaning as necessary
  7. Touch up painting
  8. Larger paint projects as identified by the administrator
  9. Monitor floor drains and keep them from drying out
  10. Monitor and change empty dishwasher liquids
  11. Set up the fellowship chairs and tables for Sunday or special events
  12. Straighten Sanctuary chairs and fill chair back holders with envelopes, pencils and Communication Cards

General outdoor maintenance

  1. Weed and prune as necessary
  2. Sweep front
  3. Mulching
  4. In fall, get leaves out of the parking lot and in front
  5. Keep emergency exits and patio doors clear of snow
  6. Make notes of things that need to be taken care of by outside contractors (i.e. dead trees to be taken down parking lot lights out)
  7. Change bulbs in bollards
  8. Shovel snow as necessary from the walkways (is done by our service) Salt and sand as necessary
  9. Keep the weeds back about 10 feet from the back of the building
  10. Cover air conditioners for winter (covers are already made)

Position Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Excellent communication abilities
