E-Note June 13, 2025

Dear Peace members and friends,

There is the old story about a little girl in Sunday School, drawing with all her crayons and with all of her might. Her teacher asked her what she was drawing, “I’m drawing a picture of God,” the girl said. Her teacher replied: “But, my dear, nobody knows what God looks like.” To which the little girl replied without looking up: “Well, they will when I’m finished!”

I tell you that story because this coming Sunday is the Sunday of the Holy Trinity. It is the only church festival that celebrates—not an event in Jesus’ life or the life of the church—but a picture, a description, a doctrine, of who God is (and, in turn, who God isn’t). This celebration helps us think about God and God’s ways with us. Along with Holy Communion, singing hymns of the day, a children’s message, I’ll have a message for the day, “The Big Picture.”

And when you are at church on Sunday, take a look in the bulletin for information about a January mission trip to Robin’s Nest, an orphanage in Jamaica. There are few things that grow our faith more than being church “on the road”: serving, learning, worshiping and having fun together as a mobile community of faith. Take a few moments to check the trip out or take a look on the front page of our website for further information: www.peacebloomington.org. It’s a great opportunity; don’t miss it!

We continue to collect “most needed” items for VEAP and their work to care for the needs of our neighbors. Laundry detergent, paper products (paper towels, bathroom tissue), dish soap, personal care and feminine hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, hand soap, toiletries), diapers, and baby wipes are in demand. Drop off your donations in the VEAP cart in the Narthex. Thank you!

See you Sunday!

Mark
