E-Note July 18, 2025

Dear Peace members and friends,

This Sunday, I will conclude the sermon series, “How My Mind Has Changed.” And I want to end the series with Jesus. Why Jesus? Because he is the core of our faith; the reason we exist as Peace Lutheran Church. And, even for those who are indifferent to him, his influence remains—on everything. The great church historian from Yale, Jaroslav Pelikan, wrote, “Regardless of what anyone may personally think or believe about him, Jesus of Nazareth has been the dominant figure in the history of Western culture for almost 20 centuries. If it were possible with some sort of super magnet to pull up out of that history every scrap of metal bearing at least a trace of his name, how much would be left. It is from his birth that most of the human race dates its calendars, it is by his name that millions curse, and in his name that millions pray.”

In worship (9:30am), I’ll say more in a message, It’s About Jesus.” We’ll sing his praises, have a children’s message, gather around his table, and pray in his name.

Following worship, we’ll gather in the Parish Hall for Fellowship time. With donuts and coffee, we’ll recall and celebrate some of the highlights of life together at Peace over these last 20 years. I look forward to it!

Grace and Peace,

Mark
