Greetings from Peace Lutheran Church!
We had a great time last week at our annual “Gathering Sunday” celebration, Part One! Following a festive worship service, we gathered inside and outside for popcorn, sno-cones, glitter tattoos, a bounce house, and our first ever “Flat Pastor” project! This Sunday we’ll be celebrating “Part Two” of our Back-to-School celebration. During worship we’ll be blessing our students, blessing our teachers, passing out Bibles to our Preschoolers and Third Graders, and receiving some new members. (Welcome Henderson family!) We’ll also be praying, singing, sharing in Holy Communion, and hearing a holy story about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son.
After worship we’ll be gathering over coffee, treats, and the first of our Faith Formation classes for the coming year for people of ALL ages.
In the Parish Hall at 10:45 we’ll welcome guest speaker Kristofer Phan Coffman from Luther Seminary. He will be speaking about the challenges and opportunities associated with translating the Bible. Why are there so many translations? What wisdom can we glean from Martin Luther and the Bible translation efforts of the reformers? Grab another cup of coffee and a donut and join us for this open conversation.
