Greetings from Peace Lutheran on this Day-After-Christmas!
In some countries such as Canada, Great Britain, and Australia, December 26th is known as “Boxing Day” and gifts are given at that time. In Sweden, this day is called “Annandag Jul” and is an official public holiday with most businesses, schools, and government offices closed as people spend the day resting, visiting relatives, or enjoying the final moments of their Christmas celebrations. Whatever YOUR holiday looks like, may God bless your days with peace.
We’ll be celebrating the Sunday after Christmas this week by noting that not everything was happy and bright for Joseph and Mary after Jesus was born. At worship we will hear the story of the Holy Family’s hasty trip to Egypt in order to avoid King Herod’s attempt to kill this newborn king. It’s a sad story, to be sure, but it’s a tale worth remembering. We’ll gather for worship at 9:30 as usual, and spend time in fellowship afterward. Please join us this Sunday as we continue our Christmas celebrations!
God’s Peace,
Pastor Jeff Engholm
