E-Note October 9, 2026

Greetings Peace!

Fall is officially upon us.  I hope you are finding ways to breathe in the fresh autumn air and appreciate the beautiful colors that have burst onto the MN scene.

This Sunday, we’ll dive into our new sermon series, Names Matter.  Our names tell a story about who we are, where we come from, and how we understand ourselves.  For this first Sunday, we will look at how God speaks to us individually.  We’ll explore how Samuel first heard from God, and how Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls us by name so that we might have an abundant life.  This three-part sermon series will bring us through October and culminate on Reformation Day.

Join me in celebrating our middle school confirmands as we’ve been talking about the logistics of how we got the Bible.  We’ve talked about canonization, authorship, and even context, plus we’ve even challenged our thoughts by discussing how the Bible sometimes contradicts itself.  Overall, we’ve centered ourselves on the reality that in the Bible, the exact details aren’t nearly as important as the message of Love and Life that is being shared.  Our middle schoolers have proven to be intelligent and wise in both their understanding and their questions.

Grace and Peace,

—Pastor Anne Schaefer
