Dear Peace Members and Friends,
On Sunday, we’re going to hear about angels; yes angels! This year, the annual festival Michael and All Angels (September 29th) falls on a Sunday so angels it is. And not the top-of-the-Christmas-tree-kinds-of-angels or Hallmark angels, either! We’re going to hear from Scripture about the chief angel, Michael, and his angels fighting with dragons and their angels. We don’t have to get hung up on whether we believe in angels or not to wonder about them and benefit from their place in the Bible. I’ll say more on Sunday about angels and what they mean for our day-to-day lives in a sermon, “Battles Above and Battles Below.” Pastor Joe will offer a children’s message, we’ll gather around the altar for the Lord’s Supper and sing the hymns of a festival day.
In the Adult Education Hour (10:45am) we had a great two weeks with Chris Thomforde and his presentation on “What It Means to be a Christian Citizen.” We’re going to follow that up this coming Sunday with a TED Talk video presentation from Spencer Cox, the governor of Utah, entitled, “How to Disagree with Respect—Not Hate” followed by small group conversation. A helpful hour ahead!
See you Sunday!
Mark
