Dear Peace Families,
This weekend marks two important days for us—both of which are formally celebrated on October 31st.
On Sunday, we will celebrate Reformation Sunday—a day in which we commemorate Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses and having freedom in our faith. Christian freedom is important. The prevailing thought in Luther’s day (one that still lurks around today too) was that your had to do good works in order to get into heaven. But in rebellion against the Catholic church, Luther declared that it’s not what we do, but what Christ has already done. Further, it’s in that freedom that Christ blesses us with that we do good works and serve our neighbors—not because we have to, but because we get to. Join us for worship on Sunday to celebrate, and wear red if you’re feeling festive!
Additionally, on Saturday, we will enjoy our third annual Trunk or Treat. We are so excited to welcome kids and their families from all across our neighborhood and community for this event, and to greet them with wonderful hospitality in the form of candy, smiles, and laughs. There are sure to be plenty of all three to go around! If you haven’t been able to attend the last couple years, come and enjoy it this year, you’ll be glad you did. If you have attended in the past, we’d love for you to invite a family member or friend to join you.
Have a happy Reformation Day, and a happy Halloween!
Grace and Peace,
Joe
Family Tip Of The Week
Thinking about the Reformation, what would you and your family like to see reformed—in your family, in our congregation, in our society? Further, what can you each do to be proactive and help make those positive impacts happen?
