E-Note March 24, 2023

Dear Peace Members and Friends,

It was good to see so many of you out on Wednesday for Holden Evening Prayer and Lenten supper. Our thanks, too, to past Director of Music, MaryLynn Mennicke, for her part in worship.

As we turn to Sunday, I realize that the days of Lent are dwindling and Holy Week is not far away! This Sunday is the 5th Sunday in Lent and with it comes a famous Gospel story of Jesus’ friend, Lazarus, and the sisters, Mary and Martha. In this scene, Jesus reveals his power over death by raising Lazarus from the dead. Pastor Joe will preach a sermon entitled, “Rise Again,” the Peace Choir will sing, a Children’s Message, Holy Communion, and much more. It’s a preview of Easter to come!

This Sunday is also the Pancake Breakfast! Senior high and Confirmation students will host this breakfast, a fundraiser for the summer mission trip to Chicago. Join us on Sunday to support the youth and their participation in this Christ-like work!

Thank you to those who have already contributed money and/or clothing items toward baby care kits and personal care kits for our Lenten outreach with Lutheran World Relief. Money and articles continue to come in and we are moving toward the goal of making 125 Baby Care Kits in addition to 100 Personal Care Kits. If you haven’t already contributed or want further information, just stop by the Narthex table. Thank you!

See you Sunday!

Mark
