Dear Peace Family and Friends,
We’re sharing this post with you on May Day! How are you celebrating today? Are you planting flowers in your garden? Dancing around the Maypole? Or are you simply appreciating the days of growing sunlight at this halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice? However you choose to celebrate, Happy May Day to you!
In just two days we’ll be celebrating another holiday: the weekly celebration of the resurrection of our Lord! Every Sunday we gather together to bask in the glow of the light of the Holy Spirit as we remember how far God has led us in the past and as we catch God’s vision as we move together into the future. This week we’ll hear a story from John 14, where Jesus tells his followers that he is going ahead of them to prepare a place for them. We’ll gather for Holy Communion, a Children’s Message, and wonderful music from all of those who will gather.
We will also get an opportunity to meet and install the new Church Council; Josh Braband, Robin Kennedy, Andy Loeffler, Cindy Olson, Michelle Stockinger, Tom Tisthammer, and new members Tammy Devine, Steve Larson, and Ric Soderstrom. Our thanks and prayers go with them! And we thank outgoing council members, Holly Long, Emily Sidhom, Dave Thoen, who served our congregation these past three years.
After worship, we’ll wrap up our year of Sunday Adult Education with a presentation by John Noltner. He’ll share photos he’s taken and stories he’s heard from those he has been visiting with in his ongoing project called “A Peace of My Mind.” In John’s words, “A Peace of My Mind is a multimedia arts project that uses portraits and personal stories to bridge divides and build community. Through exhibits, workshops, lectures, and public studios, A Peace of My Mind leads transformative experiences that help a polarized world rediscover the common humanity that connects us.”
See you there!
