Dear Families and Friends of Peace,
It’s been a whirlwind of a week in our CYF ministries since you received last Thursday’s edition of the Blast.
Last weekend, from Thursday to Sunday, Peace families attended Family Camp at Wilderness Canoe Base up in the Boundary Waters.
And from Monday through today, we have been hosting Vacation Bible School every morning this week with our friends over at Community of the Cross Lutheran Church.
During both events, discussions were prevalent about where we experienced God or saw God’s work; at VBS in particular, we call them God Sightings, and I’d love to share some of them with you.
At Wilderness Canoe Base, our group of kids, parents, and grandparents saw/experienced God…
- In the natural beauty of Creation
- In the sweet silence and stillness
- In the laughter and playfulness of being family together
- In perseverance and resilience displayed during a tough paddle
- In the kindness and hospitality of the WCB staff
At Vacation Bible School, some of the God Sightings mentioned included:
- “Everyone in our Crew was a great friend and made sure that no one was left out or left behind”
- “Working together during games and listening to our leaders”
- “Station Leaders helping us learn”
- “Station Assistant Leaders did a great job of spreading out blankets, pouring waters, and helping prepare for each Crew during every Transition Time”
- “Making cards for residents at Friendship Village”
- “We helped each other navigate the Games like God helps us navigate life.”
- “Older kids helping younger kids when they felt scared or sad”
Through both of these experiences, it’s our prayer that participants grew as individuals, in community, and in their faith; and we give abundant thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped to make them both possible!
Grace and Peace,
Joe
