Dear Families and Friends of Peace,
There are two very exciting events happening in the next two weeks.
First, next weekend (Thursday, June 20 – Sunday, June 23) Peace families will be driving up the north shore and across the Gunflint Trail to Wilderness Canoe Base, a camping ministry of Camp Wapo that resides just outside of the Boundary Waters.
The second, from Monday, June 24 – Thursday, June 27, Peace will be hosting Vacation Bible School at Community of the Cross Lutheran Church. I’ll have more to say on that in next week’s Blast!
At Wilderness Canoe Base, along with Camp Wapo, their summer theme is “Always.” They write:
“In a world marked by constant change, this theme serves as a powerful reminder of God’s unwavering love for us. We hold fast to the promise that ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever’ (Hebrews 13:8).
As we live out called and claimed lives, together we’ll discover ways to connect to our ever-present God. Inspired by 1 Thessalonians, we’ll find those connection points by learning to ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances’ (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).”
Under this theme, Peace families will enjoy exploring, adventuring, and being in community—all within the beauty of God’s Creation in the Boundary Waters. Together we will get to swim, hike, canoe, play, worship, rock climb, and so much more.
And one of the things that makes this weekend particularly special is that we will all be staying on site at WCB, making it an ideal introduction to both camping and to experiencing the Boundary Waters themselves.
Please pray for us next weekend, along with all of the wonderful staff members at Wilderness Canoe Base, that we would have an enriching experience that will help us grow personally, communally, and spiritually. Thanks in advance!
Grace and Peace,
Joe
