Dear Peace families and friends,
This weekend at Peace, we will be giving Bibles to our 3rd grade students. When a child is baptized (there is a baptism on Sunday too!), parents, sponsors, and the congregation make promises:
To live with children among God’s faithful people
To bring them to the word of God and the holy supper
To teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the 10 Commandments
To place in their hands the holy scriptures
To nurture them in faith and prayer, so that they may learn to trust God
To proclaim Christ through word and deed
To care for others and the world God made
To work for justice and peace
It’s our joy to be able to take part in those promises by placing the holy scriptures in their hands. And we pray that these Bibles would be a blessing to each recipient, that they would be a vehicle for faith formation and growth, and that they would help each student to know and experience the love of God.
