E-Note April 14, 2023

Dear Peace Members and Friends,

Easter and Holy Week were terrific! If you attended any of the services or joined us online, thank you for celebrating the week with us. Your presence was an inspiration and encouragement in our walk together with the Risen Christ! Thank you!

The Easter celebration continues this Sunday. Along with Easter hymnsthe children’s Alleluia Choir, and Holy Communion, and the announcement of the results of our Lenten project with Lutheran World Relief, we’ll hear the traditional Gospel for the Sunday after Easter; the story of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearance to Thomas and the rest of the disciples behind locked doors. Over the years, I have read this story many times. And yet, this time a detail that I had read often jumped off the page (this happens when you read the Bible—alot!); a detail that brought whole new meaning and life to this familiar story for me, and I hope for you, too. I’ll say more on Sunday in a message entitled, “The Table.”

In Adult Education (10:45am), we’ll begin with a brief report on our Lenten project with Lutheran World Relief. Following, we’ll discuss, “Fragments, Second Thoughts, and “On Further Review”: A Rear-View Mirror Look at Holy Week.’” While the season of Easter has just begun, we have just been through the high point of the church year with the commemoration of the crucial events of our Christian faith; the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. Join us for a second examination of some of the week’s Scripture texts and the take-aways for our lives!

See you Sunday!

Mark
