Dear Peace Members and Friends,
What a joyful Easter we had last week! It was a wonderful morning! In worship this Sunday (9:30am), the season of Easter continues.
Yet, oddly, it doesn’t always feel that way. This Sunday’s preacher, Rev. Alan Loose, describes our situation well: “Easter day—an occasion for cheering and celebration and sharing the good news. “He is risen!” And yet, we hear in John’s gospel that that same evening, the disciples were cowering in fear behind locked doors. What gives? Jesus seems to have the same question. “Calm down!” he tells them, “Get out there and shout the good news of Easter for the world to hear.’
‘We face the same dilemma. Uplifted by the good news of Easter life, we become paralyzed/silenced, instead, by the threats this broken world throws at us. Can we get past it? Get moving? Get out there with the message of God’s death-defying love for all people? We’ll explore that possibility Sunday in a message entitled “Locked In – Sent Out.’”
Along with Alan’s message, there will be a children’s message, Holy Communion, and music of this Easter season. The celebration continues!
Following worship, all are welcome to a whole hour of fellowship in the Parish Hall (10:45am)! The Earl family invites everyone to fellowship (with cake!) in celebration of Doris Earl’s 99th birthday this coming Wednesday.
Meanwhile, I am heading off to Gustavus Adolphus College tomorrow morning on retreat with many of our confirmation students. My prayers are with you all for a joyful morning ahead!
Grace and Peace,
Mark
