Dear Peace Members and Friends,
We have an exciting Sunday coming up as we prepare to celebrate Easter. This is the last Sunday before the beginning of Holy Week: Palm/Passion Sunday on April 13th.
This Sunday in worship (9:30am), we’ll hearSt. Paul preparing us for what lies ahead these next two weeks. Let me explain. Over the years, I’ve met Christians who avoid Palm/Passion Sunday and Good Friday worship. “Too much of the Cross,” they say. And yet, without the cross there is no Easter. Conversely, I’ve also met those Christians for whom the cross is the whole of their faith. They’re stuck between Good Friday and Easter.
In his letter to the Philippians, Paul counters both. He reminds us that we preach Jesus Christ, both crucified and risen from the dead. Jesus’ dying and rising is the shape of his life—and also ours as his followers. I’ll say more in a message, “Let It Go!” We’ll also have a children’s message, share in Christ’s life at the Lord’s Supper, and the Peace Choir will sing.
Following worship and after a slightly extended fellowship time, I will conclude our abbreviated Adult Education session from two weeks ago, “Accompany Them with Singing: What is a Christian Funeral?” I look forward to the conversation. Last of all, thank you for your continuing response to this year’s congregational Lenten service project, “Diapers and Dollars.” Your support in filling one of the big needs for the underserved and assisting our local provider, VEAP, who distributes those things has been terrific. That effort continues. Diapers, money, or both, this is an opportunity for us to make a difference in our own community!
See you on Sunday!
Mark
