Greetings from Peace!
Today is August 22, the second day of the State Fair. It’s often called the “Great Minnesota Get-together”, and for good reason – people from all walks of life gather for food, fun, and festivities. Speaking of which, did you know that Peace Lutheran helps out regularly with another “Great Minnesota Get-together”? On the third Tuesday of every month, several Peace members gather at Christ the King Lutheran Church just a few miles from here and prepare a healthy, hearty, home-cooked meal for anyone interested through Loaves & Fishes, no questions asked. In the “olden days” (pre-COVID), people would eat this meal together in the Fellowship Hall. But during the COVID season, the meals were packed up and given away in a drive-thru fashion. We are now on the other side of that disruptive time, but the drive-thru was so popular that the meals continue to be served that way. I’m grateful that I was able to pop in last week and learn about this project first-hand. I’m even more grateful that the cooking crew served me a generous helping of their classic tator tot hotdish! Thank you!
During these early days of my time at Peace, I plan to learn more about all the ministry opportunities that folks participate in and then share what I learn with the rest of the congregation. Maybe you didn’t even know about this monthly ministry that Peace supports! I also plan to learn more when we worship together each Sunday morning. I’m already grateful for the conversations I’ve had and the stories that you’ve shared.
Please join us THIS Sunday morning at 9:30am to pray, to sing, and to hear a story about Jesus healing a woman who has endured painful suffering for 18 years. Through the healing touch of Christ, her life of pain is turned into a life of promise.
See you Sunday morning!
God’s Peace,Pastor Jeff Engholm
