E-Note August 4, 2023

Dear Peace Members,

I am out of town this week and, while I’m away, Peace member Pastor Alan Loose will officiate and preach at Sunday worship (9:30).

Pastor Loose will continue with our current sermon series, “The Life and Ministry of the Apostle Paul” and sent along a preview for the day: “Have this mind among you,” counsels Paul in his letter to the Philippians, “which is yours in Christ Jesus.” He goes on to describe the attitude Jesus adopts in his time on earth: humbling himself, serving, sacrificing. The truth is, Jesus was all about securing the blessings of new life and salvation for the creation God has made. From feeding a crowd of 5,000 with a few loaves and fishes as he does in the story in Sunday’s reading from Matthew’s Gospel, to dying an ignominious death on a cross, as the Apostle Paul reminds us in the Philippians reading, Jesus shows a willingness to do whatever was required to accomplish God’s goal of salvation for all. Sunday’s message, entitled “Whatever It Takes,” explores how our connection to Christ calls and empowers us to live a similar life of loving service to the neighbor.”

Pastor Loose will offer a Children’s Message and Holy Communion will be given and shared for all. My thanks to Pastor Loose and I look forward to viewing the service online.

I urge you to continue prayers for 9 Peace youth (4th-8th Graders) who are at Camp Wapogasset’s Youth Camp in Amery, WI for the week. The Peace youth are: Trevor Budz, Emery Byers, Kiya Losinski, Myla Macejkovic, Elsa Oman, Sofia Oman, Asher Rogers, Ayla Rogers, and Addison Tschida. May their week finish well!

See you next week!

Mark
