Dear Peace members and friends,
I’m looking forward to Sunday and one of the highlights of the year: the Children’s Christmas program (9:30am). Actually it’s more than that! It’s less a program than it is worship. The participants are not only children, but the Peace Choir and all of us gathered together. Though it is still Advent, we will get to hear the Christmas story told and sung about by the children of the congregation. They have been working hard on their parts and they are excited! Join us for a wonderful morning ahead!
The celebration of Christmas begins just a week from Sunday. Here’s a reminder of the worship schedule:
- Christmas Eve Worship (Sunday, December 24—No morning worship) at 4:00pm and 5:30pm. Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols with Candlelighting at both services.
- Christmas Day Worship (Monday, December 25) at 9:30am with Holy Communion.
- First Sunday of Christmas Worship (Sunday, December 31st) at 9:30am with Holy Communion.
I want to thank you for your continued generosity during this season. Through your offering and the children’s offering many people—both near and far—will be comforted and encouraged.
- Your support and terrific volunteers from the congregation make possible this coming Tuesday’s monthly Loaves & Fishes effort to feed the hungry in Bloomington.
- We are supporting a Christmas celebration for refugees stranded and living in Cairo, Egypt through the ministry of St. Andrew’s Church and 11 children with gifts and some needed equipment at Queen Louise Home for Children.
- Through your offering, we are helping to gift women living in local shelters with some basic necessities.
- You continue to fill the narthex bin with food and necessities for our suburban neighbors through the ministry of VEAP.
- And last, but certainly not least, through the annual ELCA Good Gifts effort, the congregation together has purchased a water well and many of you have contributed a variety of gifts for others living around the world.
Thank you for your generosity in the name of Jesus Christ!
See you Sunday!
