Dear Peace Members and Friends,
I’m looking forward to this Sunday, the second Sunday of Advent! Worship, education, service, and fellowship—all things that are life-giving during this wonderful season of the church year.
Our Advent sermon series—“Whose House for Christmas?”—continues. We’re touring the homes of different women and men whose stories light our way as we prepare to celebrate once again God’s coming to us in Jesus of Nazareth. This Sunday, I’ll have us stop by at the prophet Isaiah’s house to hear what he has to tell us about our lives and the coming of Christ into them. I’ll have a children’s message, we’ll sing the wonderful music of the season, and we’ll share in Holy Communion.
From worship, we move on to the Education Hour for all. Joining us for the Adult Hour will be Jamie Lennon from Lutheran World Relief (LWR). I encourage you to take in this hour. Why? Some of your offering goes in supporting LWR’s work around the world. Another reason? They do wonderful work on our behalf! Join us!
The annual churchwide Advent/Christmas ministry of ELCA Good Gifts has begun. If you haven’t received a catalog in the mail, take a moment at church on Sunday to check out the catalog and add to the Christmas tree. It’s one of the best things we do all year!
Considering the cold, windy weather, we had a great turnout for this last Wednesday’s Advent Midweek Worship Service. Worshiping in the candle-lit quiet, singing beautiful music, and praying was good for the soul. Don’t forget this coming Wednesday’s worship at 6:30 preceded with dinner served by the Altar Guild at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.
See you Sunday!
Mark
