Dear Peace members and friends,
He said to me: “Have you heard any good news lately?” I paused. I had to think. And my first response was, “Well, no—no I haven’t.” I had to admit that I hadn’t heard any good news on TV or read any in the newspapers.
That’s why, when I read this Sunday’s gospel that begins, “…Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God,….,” my reaction was, “What is it? I want to know!” This Sunday at worship (9:30am), I’ll say more about this gospel reading and Jesus’ words in a message entitled, “Where Do You Get Your News?” I’m looking forward to it!
In the Education Hour (10:45), there will be a preview of next week’s Annual Congregational Meeting. The President of the Church Council, Connor Myhre, will report on the 2023 financials and present the proposed 2024 budget for ministry. Together, Connor and I will present some goals for ministry in 2024.
A reminder that the Annual Congregational Meeting of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church will then be a week from Sunday, January 28th, at 10:45am. At that meeting, both a proposed budget for 2024 and new Council members will be voted upon; Pastor’s, Committees, and President’s reports will be offered. All members of Peace are encouraged to attend!
See you Sunday!
Mark
