Dear Peace Members and Friends of Peace,
I want to first thank the many of you who responded to Wednesday’s email and its urgent call to help clothe, in this cold, cold weather, some Ecuadoran refugee students who will begin school in Bloomington next week. I also want to thank those who have answered the call for the need of infant diapers at VEAP (and John Sandness’ great joke to inspire that effort. You had to be there in worship last week. It was good!). In the name of Christ, thank you to all!
A reminder that the Annual Congregational Meeting of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church will be this Sunday, January 29th, at 10:45am. At this gathering, many items will be presented; among them, ministry at Peace will be reviewed, Pastor’s reports given, financials from 2022 will also be reviewed and a proposed church budget for 2023 will be recommended and discussed for the congregation’s approval, and the nomination to the Church Council of three new members—Holly Long, Emily Sidhom, and Dave Thoen, will be voted upon. That’s a lot! For me, these annual meetings are an opportunity to give thanks to God and to one another for all that God is doing among us. Join us!
In worship on Sunday, we will continue in our Epiphany sermon series, “Jesus Rediscovered.” Sunday’s Scripture readings, music, and message on Sunday will revolved around the theme, “Jesus….as Lord.” What does it mean that, in the New Testament and since, Jesus is “Lord,” and what does that mean for us, his followers? We’ll all discover more on Sunday.
A reminder: the funeral service for Will Mesna will be at Peace on Tuesday, January 31 at 2:00pm.
See you Sunday!
Mark
