E-Note July 11, 2025

Dear Peace members and friends,

A good summer’s day to all of you!

This Sunday in worship (9:30am), we continue the sermon series, “How My Mind Has Changed.” Why this theme?  Changing one’s mind is part of our Christian experience. It is the center of the New Testament, the center of all of the Apostle Paul’s writings, and at the center of all of Jesus’ teaching and experience. And—if it is good enough for Paul and the New Testament and for Jesus Christ—it is good enough for all of us.

Me, too! When I started off in parish ministry, I had lofty dreams of transforming people and congregations and helping people live better lives. Over the years, my mind has changed about all that. Now, I rely less on my successes and failures, but on the promises of God. I will say more in a sermon, How My Mind Has Changed: “Today….Paradise.” Along with the message, we’ll share in Holy Communion and sing praises to God.

Following worship, we’ll gather in the Parish Hall for Fellowship time. This Sunday, we will celebrate 100th birthday of dear Lee Truhlar. Join me in thanking God for all the ways that Lee has blessed Peace!

Last of all, these days are flying by along with my time at Peace. And as they do, I am mindful of the many years we have shared in ministry together. That’s why I hope you will take the opportunity to join me after worship next Sunday, July 20th in the Parish Hall to recall and celebrate some of the highlights of life together at Peace over these last 20 years. I look forward to it!

Grace and Peace,

Mark
