Dear Peace Members and Friends,
Thank you for both the meaningful and fun “Hymn Sing” last Sunday! You chose terrific hymns and you sang them wonderfully. Once again, I was reminded what a singing congregation Peace is! I’m already looking forward to this the next hymn sing. It will be a part of our Sunday worship on August 11th. Mark the day on your calendars!
In this Sunday’s worship (9:30am), we, continue our sermon series, “Ordinary People in the Bible.” I would be willing to bet that most of you have never heard of the Old Testament character, Vashti. She appears in the book of Esther, in a lead-up role to the book’s namesake. Nevertheless, Vashti is an example for us of faith and following Jesus Christ in one particular way. Join me in hearing what that is!
Also on Sunday, we will have the joy and delight of witnessing, and participating in, Caroline Stockinger’s affirmation of her baptism. It’s not often we have confirmation in the summer but, in fact, these rites can happen at any time during the year and we look forward to Caroline’s confirmation. We’ll also share in Holy Communion, pray for God’s world and one another, and fellowship together following worship.
A reminder to older adults: Older adults (80+) are reminded of the next luncheon here at Peace on Thursday, August 8th from 11:30am-1:00pm. Join us for a barbeque lunch and fellowship. You can sign up by at [email protected] or by calling the Church Office (952.944.6510).
I also want to pass on another reminder of the upcoming course at Peace: Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Taught by certified instructors, this class will help us gain knowledge, support, and self-care tools to help you take care of yourself while caring for the ones you love. You will learn tips to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, manage time, better communicate feelings, and make tough decisions.
