Dear Peace Members and Friends of Peace,
There is so much bad news in the world. Sometimes it seems like bad news is the only news. Except, we do have good news: He is risen! In a world without much of it, we’ve been given good news: Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. And on the basis of that good news, we can hope in a future on his making and we can take joy, that in spite of news to the contrary, God is continuing to, in St. Paul’s words, “reconciling all things to himself.”
That’s just one of the reasons I look forward to worship on Sunday. In our brief sermon series on the Apostles’ Creed, we will turn to its second main section: “I believe in Jesus Christ.” Again with the help of Martin Luther, we’ll crack open the description of this great gift; the gift of “God’s only Son, our Lord.” Along with hearing a children’s message, sharing in Holy Communion, the Peace Choir will assist in our worship before a summer break.
As I mentioned last week, there were 7 Peace youth—Gavin Churchill, Jonah Gehant, Elsa Oman, Teo Sivanich, Sofia Oman, Eli Betlock, and Kiya Losinski—and 2 adult leaders—Lori Thomson and Ann Losinski—on a service mission trip to Chicago. Reportedly, they have had a great time! And leaving today, for a weekend at Camp Wapogasset in Amery, Wisconsin are Ben Budz, Savannah Fields, Stella Loeffler, Elsie Macejkovic, and Wyatt Tschida. We thank God for all of these Peace youth and their parents and continue to pray that these Peace youth would have a fun and meaningful time together!
Also, I pass on the reminder of our ongoing ministry with the local ministry of VEAP. Needs actually increase in the summer. There’s a bin in the narthex in which you can put items at any time which the Service and Mission Committee will get over to VEAP. Most-needed items continue to be: Laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and personal care items (shampoo, toothpaste hand soap, shaving cream, and toiletries). In the name of Jesus Christ, thank you for your continued care for our neighbors!
See you on Sunday as we celebrate the Good News of Jesus Christ!
Mark
