Dear Peace Members and Friends of Peace,
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, a festival day in the church that comes 50 days after Easter. Pastor Joe writes, “Pentecost is a day of promises fulfilled, and this Sunday serves as an opportunity to celebrate God’s promised presence within and among us—through the power of the Holy Spirit. I’ll say more in my message titled, ‘Where They Were.’
And because of the Holy Spirit within us, we are empowered and sent out to proclaim God’s unconditional and redeeming love to all the world. Let us rejoice together as we sing hymns that speak of the Holy Spirit’s power, hear a Children’s Message, and we’ll share in the Lord’s Supper.”
It’s commencement season, and last Sunday in worship we recognized our 2023 high school graduates: Marta Borggreve, Julia Freemark, Harrison Oxford, Ava Scribner, and Elena Stockinger. We wish them all the best and ask you to hold them in your prayers as they enter this next season of their lives.
Finally, this is Memorial Day weekend. We are grateful for those who have served our country and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy because of their service and sacrifice. Let Memorial Day be a time to remember and honor those who have lost their lives, and also be an opportunity to renew our sense of commitment to working for a more just and peaceful world.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
