E-Note May 30, 2025

Dear Peace Members and Friends,

I still remember my University of Minnesota philosophy professor commenting on Christianity, saying, “You must admit that it [the Easter story] is inherently irrational. There is no way for a rational, modern scientific person to be a Christian.” Really? Does that leave us Christians then as irrational; as primitive, and superstitious?

I thought of that question and that professor as we neared this, the last Sunday in the season of Easter. Before we move on to the day of Pentecost and the Pentecost season, we’re going to celebrate Easter (9:30am worship) once again. We’ll sing Easter hymns, have a children’s message, amusical blessing from Bob Wig, gather with the risen Christ around Holy Communion, and hear the Easter story once more, along with a message, “Easter is True.” Also, we’ll recognize and congratulate this year’s high school graduates: Evie Stockinger, Abbi Davis, and Owen Betlock. Join us for worship!

Following worship, come and start off June and summer with “Sundae Sunday.” The Children, Youth, and Family Committee will host and serve ice cream and toppings.

A reminder: the Service and Mission Committee has announced a mission trip for next January to Robin’s Nest, an orphanage in Jamaica. There will be an informational meeting this Sunday, June 1st, at 11:00am. Join us to hear more about this opportunity for life and growth and service to others!

God’s Grace and Peace to all of you!

Mark
