Dear Peace members and friends of Peace,
After a couple of weeks away, I will be back in worship on Sunday. My wife, Marcie, and I have been on vacation in Europe and are really looking forward to being with you!
On Sunday, we begin a sermon series, “Following Jesus in Mark’s Gospel.” The series starts with Jesus’ discussion about the Sabbath. This topic couldn’t be more timely. Many of you busy, busy people switch gears into summer and we are reminded by Jesus and the 3rd Commandment that once again, God is looking out for us—our “wellness,” the whole of us. I’ll say more in “The Gift of the Sabbath: When Gyms, Goop, and Gurus Are Not Enough.” And along with God’s word, our singing and prayers, we’ll celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
We’re also calling this Sunday, “Sundae Sunday.” Following worship, we will celebrate the end of the school year for Peace students of all ages during the fellowship hour. Hosted by the Children, Youth, and Family Committee, come enjoy ice cream, recognize our students for their hard work, and rejoice at the start of summer. And besides, it’s never too early in the day for ice cream!
One reminder: Wednesday Evening Bible Study resumes this coming Wednesday, June 5th from 6:00-7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall with a study: Women in the Bible. We’ll discuss and study about what it was like to be a woman in Biblical times, look at some of the well-known women of the Bible and others who have been ignored, and look at women in the ministry of both Jesus and Paul—all with the hope and goal of getting a fresh perspective on women in the Scriptures and help all people to live into God’s kingdom. All are welcome!
See you Sunday!
