Dear Peace Members and Friends, First of all, don’t forget that daylight saving time ends on Sunday. So remember to turn your clocks back on Sunday or just remember that they do it all by themselves! Here’s one reason why: you want to be rested and ready for Sunday morning. It’s All Saint’s Sunday! The day is not as big a blip on the calendar as Halloween or Election Day, but it is a significant day for Christians, even so. If Halloween is masks-on day then All Saints Day is masks-off day, when we stop to remember just how many people are beloved of God: those we suspected and those we never imagined; those we can name and those we cannot; those who left their marks on the world and those who lived their lives with little hoopla. Those like Mother Teresa and Grandma Ruth; St. Francis and Uncle Art. First century martyrs and 4th grade Sunday School teachers. Those whose graves we go on tending and those we know nothing about. We call them all “saints” not because they performed three miracles or lived exemplary lives but because the Bible does. Saints, according to the New Testament, are any believers who have been baptized into Christ, living or dead. So this Sunday (9:30am), we will celebrate, name, and remember Peace’s newest saints and those saints who have died. We’ll gather with saints past and present around Holy Communion, be blessed by the Peace Choir, and sing the great hymns of a festival day. All Saints! A great festival for God’s people! In the Adult Education Hour (10:45am), we’ll take some time to catch up and meet others during a fellowship time (we’ll catch up on some Reformation learning some other time). A reminder: Harvest Pack is a week from Sunday, November 10th. Immediately following worship on that day, we’ll gather in a cleared-out Parish Hall to bag simple meals for those in need. Last year we packed over 14,000 meals! Volunteers are needed to do the same (and maybe more) this year! Join in with Peace members for this meaningful and fun activity. You can sign up at church or by calling the Church Office (952.944.6510). Thank you ahead of time! And don’t forget the time change this Sunday! See you Sunday, Mark |
