E-note November 15, 2024

Dear Peace Members and Friends,

It was a great Sunday last week with Harvest Pack. Over 15,000 meals were packed by over 80 volunteers. My thanks to the each and every one of you who packed, those who came to church early to set up tables and equipment, and all those who loaded up the truck and cleaned up afterwards. A special thanks to our church Administrator, Lori Thomson for organizing the event and directing our activities. The meals that were packed will be distributed locally. Thanks be to God for the congregation and this opportunity to serve Christ in our neighbor!

This Sunday is Consecration Sunday. In worship, all members of Peace will be asked to commit to financially supporting the ministries, mission, outreach of our church and, simply, keeping the church building lit and heated for this coming year! This last week, you should have received in the mail information about your pledged giving for this year as well as information that breaks down the giving of the whole congregation. My hope is that everyone—from those who give much to those who make no pledges or gifts—will step up their giving for the life and the work of this church that we love for the coming year.

Along with this moment of consecration, I will have a message entitled, “Holy Waste.” We will hear from the Peace Choir and the Sunday School Singers. We’ll gather around the altar for Holy Communion, and we’ll sing of our gratitude to God with some wonderful hymns of the season. A joyful Sunday ahead!

If you’re not able to be here in worship and/or you were unable to be in-person last week, you will receive in the mail next week the opportunity to commit money toward ministry at Peace. I thank you ahead of time.

In the Adult Education Hour, we’ll have discussion on“Money Matters.” On this Consecration Sunday, we’ll talk about (not spend!) money. Among the topics we’ll discuss: the connection between money and happiness, Jesus and money, and the nitty-gritty of managing money.

See you Sunday!

Mark
