Dear Peace members and friends,

A beautiful day and an exciting weekend ahead!

Sunday is Reformation Sunday. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace that so changed Martin Luther and the church of his time, and still transforms us in our day. How did Luther and how do we know about God’s grace? We know it in the story of Jesus Christ. On this Reformation Sunday, we will continue our sermon series, Great Stories of the Bible, with one of best-known stories of the Bible, the story Jesus told about a father and two sons, I will say more about God’s grace and us in a message entitled, “The Prodigal God: The Story of Jesus.”

Also on this festival Sunday, the Peace Choir and trumpeter, Steve Kaarewill help us sing our praises to God, Pastor Joe will have a Children’s Messageand, of course, we will gather together around the altar in Holy Communion. Reformation: a great day in the church’s year; a great day for us all. Join us!

Following worship, at the Adult Education Hour (10:45am), we welcome back Catherine Duncan. You may remember her and her talk on resilience in September. This Sunday, she will speak on “Learning to Live: 5 Practices for Feeling More Alive.” I look forward to hearing Catherine once again.

A reminder: next Sunday, November 6, we will celebrate All SaintsIn worship, we will give thanks for all the saints, “who from their labors rest,” and celebrate the newest saints God makes in holy baptism. If you wish a loved one to be remembered by name in worship, take a moment to enter that name in remembrance book in the Narthex.

It appears that there will be great weather for the annual Trunk or Treat extravaganzatomorrow afternoon (3:30-4:30pm) in the church parking lot. All ages are invited to come out and join in the festivities!

And adults don’t forget Saturday night, November 5th at 6:30 pm for the “Name That Tune Trivia Night.” Bring an hors d’oeuvre to share and your own beverage. A fun night for all! You can sign up in the church narthex or by calling the church office (952.944.6510).

See you Sunday!

Mark
