E-note September 20, 2024

Dear Peace Members and Friends,

It’s been such a good, good start-up here at Peace, with so many exciting things happening! Sunday School, Adult Education, Peace Choir, Confirmation, Bible study; new classes, new groups, and new faces. I am grateful to you and our life together as we get on with a new ministry year!

That excitement continues this Sunday. Rev. Dr. Chris Thomforde returns to the Adult Education Hour (10:45am) for the second of two presentations on, “What Does It Mean to Be a Christian Citizen?” We had a great hour last week; I’m looking forward to the next hour!

This week, I was wondering, thinking, and praying about all of you, people of Peace: What is going on in your lives? Are you frenzied or rested; confident or worried, feeling the love of God or wondering why God seems silent and far away,…..or just not sure which end is up?!? We may be all or none of those circumstances but I’m guessing there is one we all share. In worship (9:30am), we’ll hear a Gospel reading from Mark and a conversation between Jesus and his disciples about his future, then an argument, followed by a “show-and-tell” moment. I’ll tell you what I think is the one circumstance we all have in common and Jesus’ promise in a message, “God Bless the Child.”

Also, Pastor Joe will offer a children’s message, we’ll celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and we’ll gift 3rd graders, Everett Erdahl, Morgan McCabe, Anja Rogers, and August Stender with new Bibles. A great Sunday ahead!

A reminder: the funeral service for long-time Peace member,Rick Glasgow, will be tomorrow, 12:00 noon, here at Peace and be preceded by a visitation at 11:00am. The service will also be available via livestream; the livestream link is on the Peace website homepage. All are welcome!

See you Sunday!

Mark
