Dear Peace Parents and Families,
While Pastor Joe is on paternity leave, I am continuing to join up with the ongoing editor, Daina Sivanich, to send along to you Peace’s weekly children, youth, and family newsletter.
It was amazing. Two angry human beings. Wrestling. Angry. No, it wasn’t two men (or women!) It wasn’t UFC or MMA on television in my living room. No. It was at Target. In the toy section. It was two very young children. And it was not very entertaining! In fact, it was difficult to watch.
Anger. The apostle Paul wrote, “Be angry; but do not sin (Ephesians 4:26).” Yes, it’s okay to be angry, he says. There are things to get angry about. But Paul doesn’t stop there. He says, “….but do not sin.”
How do we help our children with anger? In this article from the New York Times, Catherine Pearson discusses the issue with Jazmine McCoy, a child and family psychologist author of of “The Ultimate Tantrum Guide.” I hope you find it helpful.
