Dear Families and Friends of Peace,
Last week I shared a bit about our Confirmation Retreat that was held at Gustavus on Saturday, February 24, and I’d like to do so again today.
In case you missed it, the theme for our retreat, in coordination with our theme for the year, was “God’s Story, My Story,” and we focused on how we are all an important part of God’s ongoing story.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the final activity of our last lesson. Students had the opportunity to individually think about a few of their core beliefs about God the Creator, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
After writing down 3-5 beliefs for each member of the Trinity, we all shared one that went up on the whiteboard. Then, after discussing the different items on the board, we decided as a group which ones we all agreed with, and wrote our own (briefer) version of the Apostle’s Creed.
So here is the 2024 Confirmation Creed: I believe in God the Creator, the most high, who loves us no matter what. I believe that Jesus is the Messiah and died on a cross to save us from our sins. I believe that the Holy Spirit guides us and is always with us. It is felt in every breath we take and as present as the air around us. Amen.
Grace and Peace, Joe
