Dear Families and Friends of Peace,
This Sunday is Stewardship Sunday. And as I reflect on my personal and our communal stewardship of time, talents, and resources, one of my favorite aspects of our Sunday morning church services happens during the offering—it’s the children’s offering.
Each week it is a delight to see the children come forward to participate in this great act of generosity. Always with smiles on their faces, they joyfully bring gifts forward that glorify God–gifts that come from a heart of gratitude and abundance, not scarcity or shame.
In my opinion, this is what stewardship is all about. God has blessed each of us with time, talents, and resources—and, God entrusts us to discern how to wisely and compassionately share, save, and spend them.
With all these things, regardless of our age, size, or amount, God takes joy in our stewardship—because stewardship is a gift to others, a gift that honors God, and a gift that blesses our own hearts as well.
So this year and always, may the ways in which we share, save, and spend our time, talents, and resources bless our families, neighbors, and communities.
Grace and Peace,
Joe
