Dear Peace Parents and Families,
Thanks to everyone who came out to our Trunk or Treat event this last Saturday—and for persevering through the cold weather! I was so grateful to all those who hosted trunks as well. Each of you displayed top-notch hospitality and creativity.
In reflection on the event, I want to give you a small look into how big of an impact you all had.
Three examples:
- After worship this week, the Sunday School kids were all talking about how much fun they had at the event, how much they enjoyed seeing people’s costumes and trunks, and yes, how much candy they had already eaten. It was a hit!
- One woman I spoke with on Saturday came from the neighborhood just to check things out and see all the kids smiling. Her kids are grown, so she came alone—but she had a great time and a huge smile of her own when she left, all because she could tell the kids were having a great time and had big smiles too. The positive energy was contagious and abundant!
- In addition to candy, we also passed out flyers with an invitation to Peace. But some of you went beyond that and shared a personal invitation with your neighbors and other folks you met too—and on Sunday morning we had multiple people in worship for the first time!
This event truly would not be possible without you—kids, parents, trunk hosts, community members, and everything in between—and I’m so grateful to you all for your help in making it happen. The love of God was most certainly shared!
Finally, I want to encourage you to invite someone to attend a Peace ministry within the next two months—worship, an event, anything, even Trunk or Treat 2024. Sharing a personal invitation is the most impactful thing you can do to introduce someone to Peace and to a community of faith. And it works—people feel more comfortable trying something new or going somewhere new when they know others who will be there too.
It was so fun to see our congregation and the greater community come together for this event once again, and I look forward to seeing that continue in other fun ways throughout the rest of the school year.
Grace and Peace,
Joe
P.S. Don’t forget to “fall back” Saturday night and turn your clocks back one hour!
