Dear Peace Members and Friends,
Do you want to be wise? We need go no further than King Solomon to look for the answer.King Solomon was famous for his great wisdom. There wasn’t a riddle he couldn’t crack with one hand tied behind his back and there came a point where people figured that if anything clever was said anywhere, it must have been Solomon who originally said it, and the whole Biblical book of Proverbs is attributed to him. But as it turns out, wisdom is more than being smart and witty. Solomon’s wisdom got him only so far and Israel fell apart after he died. So what is true wisdom, anyway? We’re not fundamentally different than King Solomon. We would like to know!
So in this Sunday’s worship (9:30am), we continue our sermon series, “Ordinary People in the Bible,” with the message, “Ordinary People: King Solomon—On Being Wise.”
We’re also having our last Hymn Sing of the summer. That means that during our typical Holy Communion time, you the worshipers will pick hymns for all of us to sing. Last month’s hymn sing was meaningful and fun. Join us!
Jennifer Monroe, from Normandale Center for Healing and Wholeness, will be available at Peace to all on Wednesday, August 14th to answer give an overview and answer any questions you have about the upcoming 6-week class, Powerful Tools for Caregivers. The class will begin Thursday, August 22nd and will continue weekly from 10:00am-12:00 noon until September 26th. This class will help us gain knowledge, support, and self-care tools to help you take care of yourself while caring for the ones you love. You will learn tips to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, manage time, better communicate feelings, and make tough decisions. The total cost for all sessions is $20.
To register, you can e-mail Normandale Center at [email protected] or call the directly at (952) 977-9357. Neighbors, community residents—everyone—is welcome!
