October 14, 2022

Dear Peace members and friends,

Snow! It’s only October 14th! There’s a reason that they call Minnesotans “God’s Frozen People” and waking up this morning to see the white stuff on the ground and trees was another one. Yet we carry on!

It was good to touch base with many of you during last Sunday’s Congregational Care Call. Council members and pastors had conversations with many of you. I was reminded again of the vitality of Peace people and how you—God’s people—have remained faithful and grateful for the grace of God and for Peace. Thanks be to God for all of you!

This Sunday in worship (9:30am), we continue in our sermon series, “Great Stories of the Bible.” Pastor Joe will preach on the Old Testament story of Moses and the Burning Bush. We will also receive new members. They are: Julie Kranig: Joe, Leela, Parker, Jackson, and Madeline Krummel; Randy and Cynthia Olson; Reilly and Lucas Orner; Brian and Heidi Rich; Jason and Mason Vander Stelt and Toni Davidson. Join me in welcoming them to Peace and the ministry we share of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Also on Sunday in Adult Educationwe will conclude the series, “How We Can Feed the Future.” In Sunday’s forum will continue to study food with the assistance of some TED Talks and we’ll end with a review of our own ministry in response to hunger. Come join us for this important conversation!

As we look ahead on the calendar, I want to call your attention to a new opportunity and some other events coming up:

  • A new group for adults aged 40+. They will meet on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00am at church.
  • The now annual Trunk or Treat event is Saturday, October 29th from 3:30-4:30pm. Host a trunk and give out candy, pencils, or stickers. And parents and kids, mark this one on your calendar to attend!
  • For all adults, test your music memories on the Name That Tune Trivia Night, Saturday, November 5th beginning at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall. Bring an hors d’oeuvre to share and your own beverage. A fun night for all!
  • This year’s Harvest Pack when we gather to pack food for local organizations serving the hungry is on Sunday, November 13th immediately following worship. It’s always—always—a great morning of ministry together!

See the Information Kiosk in the Narthex for further information and sign- ups for these and other opportunities and events!

See you Sunday!

Mark
