Dear Peace members and friends,
It’s an exciting Sunday ahead! This Sunday we will welcome to Peace and the Adult Education Hour (10:45am), Dean Phillips, who represents Minnesota’s 3rd congressional district (which includes Bloomington) in the U.S. House of Representatives. I have asked him to speak about gun violence, gun safety, and current gun violence legislation. I’m also hopeful that time allows for a question-and-answer opportunity. Join us for this informative hour with Congressman Phillips!
This week in worship (9:30am), we continue in our sermon series, “Great Stories of the Bible” with the Old Testament story of the Golden Calf. What does this story involving God, Moses, Aaron and the people of Israel have to say to us. It turns out, a whole lot! If you have wondered if there is more to this Christian life; if you comfortable in your faith but not feeling quite fulfilled; this story has something for all of us. I’ll have more to say about this great story—and us—in Sunday’s message entitled, “Things that Shine: The Story of Israel at the Foot of Mount Sinai.”
In worship, we’ll also welcome into the family of God in Christ in baptism, Madeline Rose Krummel, the daughter of Joe and Leela Krummel and sister of Parker and Jackson. Holy Communion will be celebrated, the Peace Choir will sing, and there will be a presentation of Bibles to our 3rd Graders: Ellie Anderson, Ben Budz, Savannah Fields, Elsie Macejkovic, Brynn Tschider, and Nora Waller. A lively morning ahead!
Last of all, if you have ever wondered what goes into creating a sermon or said to yourself, “I disagree!” after you’ve heard one, or would like to dig into the Sunday scripture a bit further, all are invited to Wednesday evening Bible study from 6:00-7:00pm in the Parish Hall. In this hour, we review together the previous Sunday’s “Great Story” and what was said about it and then preview and study the Bible story that is the basis for the sermon the following Sunday. I have to say; it’s a whole lot of fun with fun people. All are welcome!
See you Sunday!
