CYF Blast & Family Tip Of The Week September 29, 2022

September 29, 2022

Dear Peace Families,

As of today (Thursday), we are still in the month of September. But much to my dismay, I have neighbors down the street from me who have already had Halloween decorations up for multiple weeks. Skeletons sit on deck chairs. Ghosts loiter near the sidewalk. Witches grovel over a murky cauldron. The front yard is now a graveyard.

I understand putting up Christmas lights early, or listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. But Halloween–in September!? Let’s not get carried away!

And yet…

Peace’s 3rd annual Trunk or Treat event is officially a month away from today—on Saturday, October 29th. If you haven’t taken part in it over the last couple years, it’s a wonderful event where kids can go trunk to trunk collecting candy, all within the safety and confines of Peace’s lower parking lot, which is blocked off to all vehicles.

Nearly all of those trunks are hosted by Peace members and families; and they are decorated in fun ways—spaceships, monsters, Ladybugs, Hogwarts Castle, crime scenes, and more. It’s a chance to let your creativity shine!

Last year we had just under 200 kids come through during our one-hour event (that doesn’t include parents!). It’s been an extraordinary outreach event, and one that brings smiles to so many faces—including many who might not otherwise visit us.

That’s where you come in! We would love for you and your family to host a trunk, and for your kids to join in the fun. We would also greatly appreciate you inviting your neighbors and friends to come, and would be grateful if you could encourage other Peace members without kids to help host trunks as well. Everyone’s invited, and it will take a community to serve a community!

You can find more information at the bottom of this email, in addition to a registration link for trick or treaters, trunks, and volunteers.

So while I can’t condone setting up your decorations yet, I do invite you to start thinking about our wonderful event and opportunity to be good neighbors.

Grace and Peace,

Joe
