Jeremiah 31:31-34 31The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 32It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord. 33But this is the covenant that I will make with the house…

Acts 13:16-26 16So Paul stood up and with a gesture began to speak: “You Israelites, and others who fear God, listen. 17The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. 18For about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. 19After he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their…
E-Note – Lent – March 12, 2024
Dear Peace Members and Friends, Lenten Midweek worship and fellowship continues tomorrow night with worship at 6:30pm, preceded by dinner being served, beginning at 5:30pm! One long time tradition of Lent is to focus on the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ—the events, the people—and its meaning for our lives. And that’s what we are doing this year, in a sermon series entitled, “God in Pain: The Suffering of Jesus….and Our Own Suffering.” Tomorrow night, we will look at what…

Mark 9:30-41 30They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it; 31for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again.” 32But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him. 33Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the…

John 1:35-46 35The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, 36and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, “Look, here is the Lamb of God!” 37The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” 39He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and…

John 3:14-21 14And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 16“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. 17“Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be…
E-Note March 8, 2024
Dear Peace members and friends, First of all, remember the time change this Sunday–clocks are set forward! “Is it still Lent?” they asked, (emphasis on “still”), with a certain amount of weariness. “When is Easter, again?” Unspoken was the thought, “Enough of this Lent stuff—crosses and sin and its consequences—let’s get to the good stuff; the Good News of Jesus’s resurrection, Easter hymns, and lilies!” I understand. And so, for hundreds of years, has the church. On this coming 4th…

Ephesians 2:1-10 1You were dead through the trespasses and sins 2in which you once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. 3All of us once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like everyone else. 4But God, who is rich in mercy,…

Stay connected!Children, Youth and Family News March 7, 2024Dear Families and Friends of Peace,Last week I shared a bit about our Confirmation Retreat that was held at Gustavus on Saturday, February 24, and I’d like to do so again today. Numbers 21:4-9 4From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; but the people became impatient on the way. 5The people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we detest this miserable food.” 6Then the Lord sent poisonous serpents among the people, and they bit the people,…

2 Corinthians 4:1-15 1Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God. 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4In their case…
